So today I headed with my snotty-nosed three year old down to Springfield for hopefully my last apostille trip for a long while (at least 6 months ha ha). Benjamin was great on the trip by the way. He just picked up a horrible cold at Maranatha last week. :(
Anyway, when Gregg and I notarized papers yesterday at church, we did two copies of the court petition...well, just because. I didn't want there to be any chance that we needed more than one. :) So...I went to the index department with my two documents and had them apostilled. I knew we needed two. Two right?
Benjamin and I headed off to have lunch with my longtime friend Susan McClintock. We went to The Feed Store on the Old Capitol Square. It was good, but nothing compared to what I had been told. Anyway, we followed up with Coldstone Creamery. That made up for the so-so lunch. :) The conversation was nice and we enjoyed catching up. I don't see her near enough.
By this time it's about 3:15. As Susan and I were both pulling out of the parking garage, I began to review my documents and realized OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I forgot to notarize the other document, the revised copy of the IL adoption law! There I sat 15 minutes past when the office states they will apostille...1 1/2 hours from home....two days before we leave for court! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! So, I called Susan (who was behind me) and asked her to follow me to the Index Dept. which was nearby. I went there, jumped out of the car and ran into the building. The woman who did my aspostilles earlier was walking to the door with her purse on her shoulder and when she saw me run in she said, "Back again?" I told her what was going on and she took the paper and said, "I'll do it for you." :) Thank you Lord! After telling her how wonderful she was about a million times, she gave me the paper and I drove home.
It's the little things in an adoption that amaze me. How in the world are adoptive parents supposed to keep everything straight. I can tell you it's by the grace of God I have accomplished anything in this adoption. We have placed it all at the feet of Jesus....our finances, the paperwork, everything. God has all of the details under control. We only need to trust Him.
Thank you God for that little reminder today! :)

Continuing to Praise a faithful God who loves us so much He never misses a detail. Have a safe and fruitful trip tomorrow. We love you so much and love little Timmy right along with you.....cannot wait to meet him. Give him a kiss from his Great Aunt Linda. Bless you....all of you..........
