Thank you to everyone who prayed us through our journey! We had a wonderful trip home with our two boys. God blessed us with boys who slept a LOT and were happy to play with each other (or fight lol) the rest of the time. They were so patient. Our first flight was smooth. No issues. The second, from Paris to Chicago was LONG! It was supposed to be 9 hours but ended up being 12! We sat on the plane for almost 2 1/2 hours before take off because the plane had faulty navigation equipment. They replaced it with new equipment and it did not work either. Then they announced that the second computer also did not work. They reworked the flight plan to go farther north and fly not as high and decided to fly with "limited navigation." Gregg suggested the pilot had a hand held GPS. :) Anyway, it was a really long flight. The boys both slept twice.
When we arrived in Chicago, we were just in time to miss our flight to Peoria! So...we went to the American Airlines desk to figure out how they had rescheduled us and they said, "You are overnighting in Chicago!" WHAT??? Yeah, that's not happening! We asked them to look at other carriers and let us know what tickets were there. They said if we split up, we could fly on two different flights to Chicago and would arrive within 10 minutes of each other. So Gregg took Benjamin and I had Timmy and we did just that.
As I arrived at the gate with Timmy, I realized I did not have a seat assignment, but Timmy did! They began announcing that the flight was overbooked and they were offering people money, lodging and tickets to give up their seat! I couldn't believe there was still a possibility that we might not be getting on that plane!
I began talking to a newlywed couple who was sitting nearby and they heard my story. They soon were talking to agents at the gate to make sure we got on that plane. They even switched seats so we could be together. What a blessing to meet them! They are just another example of people God put in our paths all the way along our journey to help us bring our son home!
We arrived in Peoria at 10:10 pm Wednesday night and were welcomed by a group of enthusiastic family and friends. It was a very emotional time for us as we were able to introduce Timmy to these people who had been a part of our journey all along.
The past few days has been great. Timmy has settled in very nicely so far. He is really afraid on our dog, Emmy, but other than that things are pretty happy-go-lucky! Language is still a very rough spot, but I do feel like he's picking up new words and is understanding us more each day.
I cannot wait to take him to the doctor on Wednesday. We do have a lot of concerns for the doctor but it will feel good to receive some answers. Please pray for that appointment as it will be lengthy.
We appreciate all of your concern and your support! Much love to you all!
