Surgery's over, past the flu, next?

It's been a while since I posted so let me catch you up on what's been happening in our household! First of all Timmy had his head surgery on December 26 to remove the large mole from his head under his hair. He did wonderfully after that surgery, only on pain meds for two days! He's such a good patient! It also ended up being outpatient which we didn't anticipate but were ecstatic about! After staying the night with him with his last surgery, I was not looking forward to that! The surgeon was able to get about 90% of the mole in the one surgery so he is thinking we may be done. That is amazing news! The only reason he may have to have another surgery is if the scar expands too much leaving a huge gap in his hair. This is possible since they stretched the skin to cover the hole. We shall see in about 4 or 5 months. The mole was BENIGN which is a huge praise. They didn't expect it would be cancerous at this age, but you never know. God has been amazing as we have walked through these past three 1/2 months. We have seen His hand work through each situation and as we mark each of the concerns off of the list as "taken care of." Praise God none have ended up being a lifelong problem! The past two weeks we've been dealing with the flu. Fortunately it was only the two boys who got it but OH MAN was it bad. They were running 105 fevers with coughing, lethargy, etc. It's been rough. But they are finally on the mend. Benjamin is still a bit tired as a result but he's doing much better. Our family has been reeling a bit since hearing the news of Americans being banned from adopting from Russia. News today seems hopeful that maybe those in process adoptions might continue until January 2014, but we shall see how that plays out. My heart hurts for those families who have met their children and don't know whether they will be able to bring them home. What a tragedy. But I also think of those who dreamed of adopting a Russian child for various reasons, and especially those who were waiting for a referral. The thought of having to start from scratch to adopt elsewhere is daunting, I'm sure. Our family has done what we can to get the word out about what's going on and tell of our successful adoptions through the media. We have been interviewed for TV and newspapers and have an interview coming up on January 22 from 10-11 on public radio. Please pray that we may represent the situation in the best light and that God will be glorified. Pray that this positive news today would turn into a reality and that families would be able to complete their adoptions. Even since I wrote that last paragraph things have changed in the media and now I am not sure what will happen with Russian adoptions. But the one thing I know is that God loves those children and He will care for them somehow. He is faithful and just. He knows our longings and He knows what is best for us. He will get all of us through this time and show us where He would have us spend our time, our money and our energy. Pray to this end with me, will you?
